‘Triple Trouble Times Ten.’

Every dream has a Dream Master – to control the dream. But Cy has such a vivid imagination that he has met his Dream Master and can travel with him through Time and Space to live his dreams.

It’s Triple Trouble Time, though, when Cy begins a school project on volcanoes. His head is filled with images of the eruption of Vesuvius near Pompeii and suddenly Cy and his Dream Master find themselves held captive in the time of the Romans. Helpless in the doomed city on the eve of its terrible destruction, Cy discovers that captured prisoners must fight for their lives as gladiators…

‘We’re in trouble, Twenty Types of Trouble – Double Mixed!’

Every dream needs a master – someone in charge, just like someone telling a story. But when Cy has a go at running his own dream, everything goes horribly wrong. Suddenly Viking invaders are burning down a village, chasing after him with huge axes – and a bossy Saxon princess thinks he is a useless swineherd. His dream is out of control!

Only Cy can sort it out. It’s his dream, his story. And if he fails the bloodthirsty barbarians in his dream could burst through into real life…

There are good dreams and there are rotten dreams, and once they’re over, they’re over. Or are they?… For one morning, as Cy is about to wake up from a terrific dream about Ancient Egypt, he discovers that he can get back into his dream world. There’s just one problem: the Dream Master, who isn’t used to stroppy boys standing up to him and wanting to break all the rules. And as Cy moves back and forth between the present day and the land of the pharaohs – sorting out all kinds of problems with schoolwork and bullies – dream life and real life become ingeniously intertwined!

He cannot bear to be at school or home. His refuge is one corner of the kirkyard, where nothing flourishes except a single rowan tree. Then workmen uproot the tree and, as it dies, a terrible force comes to life.

Can Solomon find the strength to fight the ancient and evil power which has been unleashed?

Siobhan is desperately unhappy at school. Tormented by the cruel jokes her class-mates play on her, she often retreats to the school library and the sympathetic ear of the librarian. Then Siobhan finds a Celtic brooch, which gives her a new confidence and a strange sort of power…

Siobhan’s new brooch gave her the confidence she needed to stand up to her class-mates. But there are other ways of building self-esteem, and learning how to cope with bullying. Siobhan’s story is followed by a guide to problems at school – what counts as bullying, what to do if you or someone you know is being bullied. Included are do’s and dont’s, and useful addresses for help and advice. Be Bullyproof!

First term at the Big School… Why is it you have to put up with spots, metal contraptions for teeth and thick-framed glasses just at that most sensitive time of your life?

But these are the least of Mary’s problems. Her new-found friend Jamie seems about to lead her into all sorts of trouble. Making their way home from school along a forgotten footpath, they narrowly escape a ferocious bull. A battle is in store when they insist that the bull should not be allowed on a public right of way. Little do they imagine to what lengths the farmer is prepared to go!

Meanwhile at school new subjects from sex education and basic soldering to French and Drama keep their minds well stressed. Worst of all are the deadly dinner queues and obnoxious prefects stalking the corridors – the last thing they need. But help is at hand when Mary and Jamie discover that parents and teachers are human after all – well some of them!

Okay, so Katharine’s mother wants to go back to school but did she have to choose her school?

Her friends all think Mrs Douglas is great, but Katharine feels embarrassed and humiliated, especially when she hears rumours about her mother and Hedgehog, the maths teacher. As if she hasn’t got enough problems of her own.

But then Katharine learns something about her mother which puts everything else into perspective, and unexpectedly brings them closer together.
